Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.

seadooing...with guardian angels

For the past few weeks we have been planning to go seadooing in Kuwait City. We'd tried to go a few times before but it wasn't working out, that is, not until today! After church, a few of us went to lunch and then, at 3:30, met up with more people at Applebees and went to start our adventure.

Unfortunately, the wait at Applebees was an hour. So we hopped into our rented car and headed for TGIFridays (Note: the restaurants in Kuwait have been westernified). It took about 10 minutes. Once we arrived, the beach was busy...and the wait was an hour. D'oh! So we hung out and ordered drinks at TGIFridays until it was time to go.

Once we were on the water, it was absolutely amazing. It felt like we were in CSI Miami, zipping along the coast. We rode for a while, going all the way from Kuwait City to Salmiya, about a 20 minute drive. And, once in Salmiya, my seadoo ran out of gas. BAH! Fortunately the coastguard came and picked me up ;) Well, they picked up my seadoo and I hopped on the back of Jen's.

One the way back to where we started, we passed Melissa...on the back of some random guy's seadoo. "Funny story!" she yelled, as we passed. The others were no where to be seen. Until we reached the beach and saw Pam and Kelly standing there....odd.

They had been in an accident; Melissa was coming up right behind Pam and Kelly (who were sharing a machine) and Kelly turned sharply, right in front of Melissa, who couldn't stop and ran right in front of them, tipping them over...with all of them ending up in the water. Melissa's seadoo hit Pam in the head (fortunately she's okay! just shocked) and Kelly jumped off, and Melissa's seadoo sunk...ish.

They're a little shaken up, but okay. We had to spend a good 30 minutes talking with the owners and paying for damages before they would give me back my civil ID. And in the end, we got out of there!

And walked home. Jen, Kelly and I just started walking. Kelly made it about 40 minutes before her knee gave out and she hailed a taxi. But Jen and I walked the entire way! It only took us about 2 hours, which is surprisingly fast, considering we'd assumed it would take much longer.

A nice shower and comfy pyjamas and a warm blanket. All's well that ends well :)
