We had the third day of school, today, and already I've been asked it.
A student has already asked me if it's my last year here in Kuwait.
I'm not sure whether she wants me to stay or can't wait until I leave ;)

ask her! Perhaps they're not used to the "strict(er)" you!
But I get that question asked every time you leave - "is she going back for another year?? How long will she be there?" I think once you fulfilled your 2-year contract, people figured you'd be staying "home". They don't realize you're "home" wherever you are.
