…well, good *Christian* dancing, that is.
(And I hope you read that with a dutch accent)
I have the keys to my new apartment! I visited it today and got a few pictures. Here is the (not so grand) tour of the new place. Please note that it is both entirely empty and dirty at the moment. I’ll do this tour again in August when I’ve had a chance to set everything up. Maybe.
1. Enter the apartment and turn to your left (I know it’s weird, but it works better this way). Here is the hallway with the pointless door. I will use it as a silencing door for when the kids next door are crying ;) PS. I LOVE the dark doorframes. I find it really classy. God knows just what we love…and He doesn’t have to appease our senses, but I believe that He does, sometimes, just to remind us that he cares about even the little details.
2. The kitchen. It’s not NEARLY as pink as I remember. It’s tile, it’s made that way, so we can’t paint it. But the pink is girly, and I kind of like that. It can be the girly room. (No cracks about women in the kitchen). Although I might paint/cover the fronts of the cabinets to make them match…
3. The Bathroom. Yep, it’s seafoam green. I didn’t have the choice with this one, either. But I think, with a dark shower curtain and some appropriately placed white and green accessories, it can look really sharp.
4. My bedroom. I decided against the red paint and bought light green instead (or rather, as well…) It will be the green room for when Kuwait feels too BROWN. Like on duststorm days. The little bed is going to be removed…this apartment was the guest room and laundry room up until about last week ;)
There’s a small nook in the one corner of my room. I think I’ll put the desk there, or some kind of comfy chair. It gives really good light from that window (although I’ll have to get a curtain for it, and Mom, you know it’ll be closed 90% of the time).
Yep, this is the view from my bedroom window. A slight change from the ARABIAN GULF BEACHFRONT that I have right now…sigh…but I keep reminding myself of the many other benefits of my new job and apartment :) 3AJEEB <—(Kuwaiti Arabic word for “wicked awesome” – the 3 sounds like a glottal “aaa” sound that we can’t really make.)
5. Exit the bedroom and there’s the hallway again. I’m REALLY tempted to paint the hallway red (Pinot Noir, actually), since I have so much red paint and the yellow doesn’t appeal to me as much as I thought it would. We’ll see what the next couple of weeks bring.
6. The Living Room. The final room on our tour. The living room will be the location of many late night DDR parties, which are great for burning both calories AND stress.
And the view from the living room window:
Yep, I’m going to need some curtains. So we’re off to Ikea on Saturday for a super serious apartment accessorizing extravaganza!
This’ll do. This’ll do quite nicely, in fact.
I’m pretty darn psyched.

I am not the art teacher, but I think the red colour would look really nice with the dark door frames :)
Very, very exciting, Katie.
Thanks for the tour.
