Last week I went to get my visa at the Embassy of Kuwait in Ottawa. We arrived downtown and parked at 7:30am. The only problem with arriving so early is that there is not a whole lot open at that hour! So I bought a tea and walked downtown. It was neat to be able to see some of the main attractions (like the Parliament and the Mint) without the hoards of usual tourists.
I sat outside the Kuwait Embassy for 10 minutes before it opened -and when I finally went in, it was like entering a prison! Security guards and locked doors and very thick glass, us speaking to each other through holes. But the people who took my information and processed my visa were very friendly. And there wasn't a lineup! (Not like the American Embassy...what, no one wants to go to Kuwait??)
I returned at 2pm and after a couple minutes, they gave me my passport back - visa included!
No fuss! I was impressed. Though the best part was reading the Arab Times, an english newspaper in Kuwait...from January 31st, 2007.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
