in Toronto, I was in tears sitting at the gate, waiting to board the flight to Frankfurt, when i saw a girl a couple rows over who looked familiar. i thought it was one of the other teachers at the school, but i couldn't be sure. fortunately, she came up to me a little later (and also fortunately i was no longer crying at the time!) and we reconnected. we even sat beside each other on the flight!

not only did I run into Kaitlyn, we also ran into Gwen, our superintendent, who was on the same flight! that made the trip so much easier, just knowing she was there with us. although she kept disappearing whenever we needed her most...like in the Kuwait airport! but we found her (waiting outside, for some odd reason...)

aand...it was hot. initially, it felt like standing in the exhaust of a bus. you know the feeling? and then we realized that the exhaust wasn't going away and it was just that hot. like a sauna - it said 43 C outside the airport - although it felt much hotter inside the car park.
do i dare say that i'm a little cold right now, and going out on the miniporch made me warm up ;) hehe. i think there will be lots and lots of hot days to come.

the cars in Kuwait look pretty much the same as they do back home...just a lot nicer and newer. our bus looks different though - but not silly like the vehicles in Germany.

Wow, so happy for you, sis! Glad you made it safe and sound, and I hope you post many more pictures.
Oh, and you're only 7 hours ahead of us, timezone-wise. I thought it was more, so that's not so bad at all. Once you have a phone number lemme know so I can give you a call.
i think we're getting cell phones tomorrow! hassin's coming and bringing us all to the friday souk, the market. today we went to Ikea - and the most expensive thing i bought was a fitted sheet - apparently those are a luxury over here? it was about $14CAD. and i bought the one that was just a little better than a burlap sack ;)
YAY! You are safe and sound, and you look really happy! You are in our thoughts. Keep us posted!
Fitted sheets are expensive wherever you go - $14 is actually rather cheap - you can spend $50 easily on a good fitted sheet here at Zellers.
It does seem funny that you can go to Ikea in Kuwait! What types of things did you get? Show us on your blog!
